Happy July, readers.

This month we hit the last of the weird astrological news of 2025, which has been the movement of all the slow moving outer planets into new signs. Earlier this year I wrote about how unprecedented this is, to the point that I haven’t yet found a precedent.

The last change of the giants is Uranus’ movement into Gemini, on July 7th, after 7 years in Taurus. All the changes this year have been big, but for some reason this is the planetary movement I’ve been most interested in. Uranus is about chaos, the unexpected, rebellion, accidents, revolution, and innovation. In Taurus, the sign of stability, predictability, food, resources, and the earth itself, we saw huge instability around the basic physical necessities we need to feel safe (remember not being able to buy toilet paper?), unpredictability regarding resources (remember everything is cake?), and both chaos but also scientific innovation around climate change (I was recently reminded that every single thing we do to slow climate change helps).  Taurus is an earth sign, so Uranus messed with practical things. Gemini is an air sign, so this energy is now in the realm of thought and communication.

Here’s an interesting, if terrifying, factoid: the chart that is widely used as the natal chart for the United States of America, dated for 6:20 PM on July 4, 1776 in Philadelphia, has Mars in Gemini. Mars is the planet of (among other things), war and combat. Uranus was in Gemini during the revolutionary war, during which time the declaration was signed. Uranus was also in Gemini from 1858-1866, during the civil war. Uranus was also in Gemini throughout 1941-1949, the years of Second World War. Finally now Uranus moves into Gemini again, where it will remain until 2033.  This is an astrological marker of conflict for the U.S.A., and I don’t think I need to do any deep political analysis to draw a parallel.

For your personal charts, I am focusing on the parts of your chart that Uranus has moved out of, and the parts it will move into. Since Uranus moves so slowly, this won’t be an astrological shift you necessarily notice right away, but rather an opportunity to reflect on themes throughout the past seven years. To get a deeper preview of the upcoming seven years, read the horoscope for the sign directly before yours (for example, if you’re a Cancer, read for Gemini. if you’re an Aries, read for Pisces), because they will have just finished the transit you’re coming up to.

Gemini’s energy is quick, curious, and can be unpredictable. Almost all of the astrological shifts this year have been into signs that are of this energy, and while I did just saw that you may not notice this right away, I myself can report that my circle of friends have almost all reported insomnia and racing minds lately. It’s also not uncommon around the solstice to have a hard time resting—so much daylight is stimulating and makes it hard to know when to rest.

Try to stay between the fun of the stimulation and the necessity of shutting it out when you need to.

I hope you’re all recovered post pride!

Horoscopes are written using whole house calculations and are meant as inspiration and affirmation. Specific calculations are made for the rising signs, but if you don’t know your rising sign, you can read for your sun. You can access your birth chart at astro.com, café astrology, or many other apps and websites using your birth date, time, and location. You can also find out lots of personal information by booking a reading with me here.

Aries

Aries

Recently I was thinking about how the impulse to collect is very human. For all the importance of cutting back possessions, spending, and acquisition, humans really love to pick up a nick-nack. I have a niece who can’t leave the house without bringing back several rocks, little pieces of cool trash, or a nice stick. I myself am a notorious collector of little tiny things. I had this “aha” moment when I watched my niece: my desire to bring home neat stuff isn’t (just) consumerist brain rot. It’s animal, albeit an animal with access to blind boxes and a credit card.

Uranus’s big movement recently was out of your second house of resources and into your third, of communication. How have your resources, your things, your collections, and your money changed in the last six years? How have your perspectives on how they fit in your life needed to alter? Needed to innovate?

If the adage that most applies to the last seven years of your life is “you are what you keep”, the one for the next eight is “mean what you say”.

Taurus

Taurus

Identity is never fixed or static, even on a daily basis. Many of us change relationally based on who we are speaking to. Rare is the person who doesn’t do this, but whoever they are they very well might be a Taurus. Yours is the most stubborn of the fixed signs, the most stable of the earth signs, and the literal bull in the pasture of the zodiac. Taurus isn’t the enraged bull with a matador but a comfy, happy, unbothered bull who does not wish to move. However if any planet can make that happen, it’s Uranus. Since  2018, Uranus in your sign has brought some necessary but deeply uncomfortable chaos to your sense of self.

Starting July 7th, Uranus will bring this chaos into the part of the chart governing your resources: if this thought freaks you out, think about how change around your identity has brought you into being the person you are now. Uranus is about thinking in new and unpredictable ways, so there is an opportunity to expand your viewpoint on resources greatly.

Innovation around thinking about money actually sounds great to me. Could you lend me some?

Gemini

Gemini

For the last seven years, Uranus has moved through a challenging, deep, dark part of your natal chart. I say “dark” here in a very literal sense – I mean of shadow, I mean of the inside of your body and psyche where light does not reach. The 12th house governs your dreams and inter psyche. It governs your shadow self, and the parts of self we try to hide from view. The thing about our shadow, however, is that it’s easier for other people to see it than it is for ourselves. Throughout the last seven years you have likely learned more about your secrets than ever before.

Starting on July 7th, Uranus moves out of this cave and into one of the most visible parts of your chart, your first house of identity. My first piece of advice for you, Gemini, is to read the above horoscope for Taurus and what I wrote about Uranus in their first house, and see how you can relate to it. However where Taurus wants stability and predictability, Gemini loves change, information, and novelty.

Use this moment to think about what change and earth-rocking moves you might enjoy, Gemini, and use your natural gift at change to enjoy it.

Cancer

Cancer

Since 2018 your social world has been rocked, Cancer. I suspect that back then you had a completely different friend group than you do now. If not a different friend group, perhaps a different set of coworkers, different professional networks, different clubs…the planet of change and chaos has spent seven years in the part of your chart (the part of your life) about these social groups, and as a Cancer person who loves their people, it’s probably hurt.

Starting July 7th, Uranus’ movement into Taurus sees this energy shift into your twelfth house o shadow, of solitude, of dreams. Cancer, this is a great time to be with yourself and your thoughts. Start paying deep attention to your dreams, the sleeping and waking ones. Consider, if you can, a therapeutic modality (this would be a fascinating time for psychoanalysis).

Pay attention to yourself, Cancer, to the quiet interior part that you have a hard time seeing, to let that shifting tide of social change be a part of your past.

Leo

Leo

Seven years is a long time, now that I think about it, Leo. That’s how long it’s been since the last time that Uranus changed signs. At that point, in 2018, it started its journey through your tenth house of career. When I think about everything that’s changed in my career (in my life, to be sure) since 2018 I want to cackle, and I didn’t even have this planetary movement. What happened at work, Leo? What has happened with your practice, with the things you want to be known for? This wasn’t a transit about labour but of legacy, and the direction that your subsequent years are going to take.

Starting July 7th Uranus is moving out of your 10th house of career and into your 11th house of community and social groups. What new friends have you met as a result of changes in your work? What communities can you sense yourself outgrowing, moving away from?

The next eight years will see this part of your life change deeply, and considering that you are growing along with the changes is the best way to expand alongside it.

Virgo

Virgo

Earlier today I was admiring a sticker on my Pilates teacher’s water bottle. It said: “Transformation is never comfortable”. I then spent the next few (agonizing) minutes of leg lifts thinking about whether this statement is more Uranian or Plutonian: on the one hand Uranus is about chaos and massive change, but on the other Pluto is about transformation. In the end I’ve decided it’s more about Uranus, because this planet speaks to the kind of radical, uncomfy, and messy energy of a big change.  This energy has been you for the last seven years, Virgo, as Uranus has moved through your ninth house of growth. The beliefs you held at the start of 2018 are probably not the same beliefs you hold now. You have all new cells. You are a renewed person, Virgo, ready to see the world with that renewal.

This renewal is appropriate groundwork for the coming movement of Uranus into your tenth house of career. Uranus in this part of your chart will target not your day to day labour (though that will likely be changed as a consequence) but rather the work you wish to be known by.

Think now, Virgo, about what that is and what that could become, and how a moment of change is something to grasp onto when it comes along.

Libra

Libra

Uranus has spent the last eight years of your chart, Libra, in a space of depth and complexity. The eight house is about entanglement, and both the spiritual and mundane things that go along with it. This is the part of life where although you’re grieving, you still have to figure out how to plan a funeral; or the part where you laugh a little while having sex because your pants get stuck on your leg. This is also the part where sometimes dealing with those very practical realities actually is the most transformative part of intimacy.

As Uranus moves out of this part of your chart, you get to come into a period of growth, as the planet will move into your 9th house of expansion. The tangible aspects of this are about travel, spirituality, and higher learning, but whatever the cause, the effect of your deep and profound growth will be the same.

Scorpio

Scorpio

Although our culture tends to prioritize one kind of companionship over others, a romantic partnership is just one kind of partnership that can be life-changing. Throughout the last seven years, as Uranus has moved through your seventh house of partnership, you’ve had the opportunity to learn how changes in partnership cause changes in your life. The seventh house governs romantic partnership but also any kind of one-on-one relationship. Scorpio people tend to do very well in these dynamics, whether social, professional, or romantic. In this part of your chart Uranus has brought chaos  to these dynamics.

Moving forward starting on July 7th, Uranus will move instead into your eighth house of entanglement. This part of your chart speaks to the ways we are intimately, profoundly, and practically tied up with other people (you can read the above horoscope for Libra to learn more about it).

After a time in your life with a focus on relationships, you will now move into a time focused on intimacy, and have with it a seven year period to think about the difference between them.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius

Daily routines are complex for a Sagittarius. By complex I mean also hard, impossible, likely resented. Generally Sagittarius loves change and a bit of unpredictability, and doesn’t love the mundane. Uranus has spent the last seven years in your sixth house, which is the area of life that governs the day-to-day labours of routine. On the one hand, cool, a Sag probably likes a bit of change. On the other hand, no one’s chart is exclusively one sign, but regardless of what other signs you have in there, even Sagittarius wants a break from upheaval every now and again.

Well Sag, you get that this month, as Uranus moves into Gemini and thus into your seventh house, the house of partnership. Throughout this time the shape and form and possibly participants in your closest partnerships are likely to go through big changes, changes which are spurred by a need for expansion and curiosity that you feel.

Your sign is well adapted to dealing with change, so your main challenge will be to make sure that those you are in partnership can keep up with the speed of your changes.

Capricorn

Capricorn

If there’s any part of the chart I’d say that it’s fun to have Uranus move through, it’s the fifth house, and Capricorn, that’s exactly what the last seven years have been for you. The fifth house is the all the things that make life worth living: creativity, socializing, falling in love, dancing, sports, leisure – all the best parts of being a person. For the last seven years Uranus has brought his brand of chaos to this part of your life. While I could see this involving stressful love affairs and sudden divulgences in new hobbies, I could also see it bringing huge change to the way you think about love and creativity. What an awakening, Capricorn!

Throughout the next eight years, and starting on July 7th, Uranus will shift into your sixth house of daily life. This part of the chart is pretty much the antithesis of the fifth house – for all the fifth house’s fun and creativity, the sixth house is your daily routine and labour. If the fifth house is what makes life worth living, then the sixth is that which simply makes up the rest of our life. Uranus may shift with your schedules or your job.

Think about how you can handle these being shaken up, Capricorn, and about other times in your life you’ve had to be flexible in your routine.

Aquarius

Aquarius

Uranus is your ruling planet, Aquarius, and governs all the Aquarian qualities of living. Your natural tendency to be iconoclastic, rebellious, and knowledge-seeking are all qualities of Uranus. Uranus in transiting astrology is about chaotic moments and rebellions (important Uranian transits often go alongside revolutions) and this upcoming period feels…pretty primed for just such events.  This past movement of Uranus through taurus has taken place in your fourth house of home and family, so huge shake-ups in your place of residence or with your family (of origin or current chosen family) are likely manifestations of such astrology.

Moving forward starting July 7, Uranus will begin an eight year movement through your fifth house. If there’s any fun part of the chart for Uranus, it’s the fifth house: this part of your chart is all the things that make life worth living. This is about creativity, fun, falling in love, dancing, and socializing

You can expect both big changes brought on by the world around you and by your shifting internal landscape. This could be a period of exciting creative growth and innovation, Aquarius, so keep attuned to any sudden compulsions to pick up a new creative hobby.

Pisces

Pisces

For the past seven years, Uranus has been messing with your mind, Pisces. To be more specific, Uranus has been messing with your thought and speech, communication and writing, as the planet of chaos has moved through your third house which governs these areas. Clear communication is already hard for a Pisces, so this is not a welcome wrench in the wheel for your sign. This could have looked like majo unpredictable events that left you unable to know how to react, or changes to your beliefs that changed the way you communicate.

Moving forward, that energy will spend the next eight years in your fourth house of home and family. On the one hand, I must give you the extremely practical advise to be extra cautious with things around your home (Uranus rules accidents), particularly at the very beginning of this planetary movement. On the other hand, you have an opportunity to develop new thinking around family, and who you consider to be your closest people.

Family can be an expansive term, and your sign is especially well suited to unconventional family setups. You don’t need to work at opening your heart, Pisces, it’s already open.
