Happy June, everyone.

Every time Pride rolls around these days I love to constantly be reminded that Pride began as a riot. The bricks, the fighting, the chorus line of men taunting the cops, I love this stuff of legends. This year as Jupiter prepares to move into Cancer (on June 10th), I’m thinking about the interpersonal elements of the event, which itself took place during Cancer season, the sign of home and family. I’m thinking of how Stonewall was a riot of homeless youth, queer and trans people, and sex workers facing the possibility of having nowhere else to go: Stonewall was a home, and the first pride was a rebellion to save it.

Cancer is the most vulnerable sign of the zodiac, and wherever we have it in our natal chart is our most vulnerable side of ourselves. For people with Cancer in very public parts of the chart (your sun, rising, or midheaven), it means constantly facing the world with your vulnerability in front. In some ways the opposite of the notion of pride. Pride as a celebration started the year after Stonewall, but the event itself was about anger, justice, and protection. Stonewall occurred with the sun in Cancer, the ascendant in Aries (anger), and the moon in Sagittarius (Justice). This month, Sagittarius’ ruling planet Jupiter moves into Cancer, and our collective desire for justice, growth, knowledge, and opportunity all shift into the lens of this family-oriented sign.

In more recent gay history, I also love the overused meme of a blubbering RuPaul earning her Emmy with the phrase “we as gay people, we get to choose our family.” With Jupiter moving into Cancer, where the giant will stay for a year, I invite this to be a year of considering your relationship to home and family. Jupiter is also about abundance (or of too-much), and about opportunity (or of burnout), and its movement into Cancer will definitely be a relief for Cancerian people.

Jupiter’s move out of Cancer also means a move out of Gemini, where it’s been for the past year, and whose season it currently is. Gemini, you of thoughts, of much to say, of chitchat and research. How has having Jupiter in this sign affected us? I think much will be said of the explosive growth of generative AI (easily the most mercurial and Gemininian recent invention) during the year that the planet of growth was in the sign of communication, but in your personal life, look at what house Gemini rules in your chart and think about how you grew, expanded, and learned in that area of your life.

These horoscopes offer invitations for things to consider with this astrological shift, and spaces for opportunity over this next year. I hope above all hopes that this year can be one of liberation and reconnection. Move your meetings to in-person and connect with your people in real life. It’ll be lucky this year.

Happy Pride,
Amelia

Horoscopes are written using whole house calculations and are meant as inspiration and affirmation. Specific calculations are made for the rising signs, but if you don’t know your rising sign, you can read for your sun. You can access your birth chart at astro.com, café astrology, or many other apps and websites using your birth date, time, and location. Aries

Aries

I hope that where you are, Aries, the warm weather is giving you the chance to get out in the world as your sign so loves. Jupiter’s move into Cancer, on the other hand, may draw you further into your home for the next year, as he moves into your 4th house of home and family. Jupiter’s presence in the houses indicates a spotlight on this area, and while Jupiter is traditionally viewed as a benefic planet, I find in practical observation that it can also just be a lot.

Your home—the physical place itself—as well as your relationship to your family (chosen and of origin) take a central point in the astrology of next year. On the one hand this is a great time to take on projects around your house. On the other, latent issues in your family life may come to the front of mind over this next year.

Use your abundant Mars-ruled energy to tackle these projects with the Cancerian sensitivity they require.

Taurus

Taurus

June is a lovely month for Taureans this year as your ruling planet Venus moves into your sign starting on the 7th. Venus rules all the things that Taurus loves, and I always talk to my Taurus clients about how jealous I am of this placement. What is it Taurus loves? Comfort, safety, snacks, naps, ease. These are such beautiful things to love, and so tangible. Venus in your sign invites all these things to come your way.

If your rising sign is Taurus, you get all this Venusian energy around your identity for the full span of a month, which is ideal energy for taking care of your physical appearance. Buy the hat, get the manicure, get the haircut, all the things you wanna do to feel and look your best (or in this economy: clean the old hat, paint your nails, find a new hairstyle). Three days after Venus moves into Taurus, Jupiter makes his move into Cancer and into your third house of communication, making this following year one about your words and thoughts.

Take good care of your bodily vessel this month to prepare you for this year, so that you can feel your best while you tackle communication.

Gemini

Gemini

Happy YOU season, Gemini! Your sign teaches us so much of what we need to know about learning. Your sign’s insatiable curiosity to me describes why you are the twins, but when I picture the twins of your zodiacal archetype, I don’t picture adults but rather young twins in the phase of childhood where we can’t stop asking “why”. This is confounding enough with just one kid, but with two?

This is curiosity times infinity, infinity times infinity, and that’s the brain of a Gemini. This year during your season you will have the last days of Jupiter in your sign after a year long transit. Look back on this year and compare it to 12 years prior, the last time Jupiter was here.

What growth did you gain? What chances did you take? Enjoy the rest of your season, your birthday if it’s your sun sign, and teach us all how to gossip.

Cancer

Cancer

Jupiter in your sign is a spotlight on you. Your expression, your personality, your identity, your goals and aspirations. Jupiter in your sign is a bit of a winning lottery ticket that comes along every twelve years: how do you want to spend it? Think back to twelve years ago. What went well? What opportunities came along and how did they change your life? How were you publicly visible in ways that helped your career, your desires, your goals? What became overwhelming? What did you say yes to that you should have said no to?

Things change, astrology is constantly shifting, and this year won’t be the same year as 12 years ago, but the cyclical nature of the stars invites us to consider these cycles in our lives as well, and right now you have a chance to look back over these past dozen and celebrate your growth.

Leo

Leo

Jupiter’s move into Cancer brings the gas giant into your 12th house, Cancer, making this following year one that is, at least in part, deep and complex.

The 12th house is the subconscious, solitude, your dreams, your mental health. With Jupiter here, Leo, I’m not gonna sugar coat it, things can be a bit tough. You may feel lonely, you may go into the depths of yourself. But I really believe that these years can be so important, and so critical for your self-development: next year Jupiter will move into Leo and onto your 1st house of self, starting a new 12-year cycle of identity and bringing along a bit of a lottery ticket as he does so. Before that happens, you need to work on your shadow.

This is a year of plumbing the depths of your subconscious to see what emerges. Who do you really want to be? Who are you really? How do you interact? You have more access to these sides of yourself than usual this coming year, Leo, and if you can employ some effective therapeutic modalities that help you, it can be some of the most personally productive time of your life.

Virgo

Virgo

Jupiter’s move into Cancer brings the planet into a sign that compliments your own: Cancer and Virgo are the archetypal Moms of the Zodiac. Cancer is the care, the nurturing, the coddling and the lullabies. Virgo is packing the lunches, making a fruit plate, helping with the homework, and cleaning up the bedroom. All of these (problematic) storybook images of maternal energy live between your two signs, with Virgo leaning heavy on the invisible labour.

Jupiter will give your Virgo placement(s) a nice little shot of energy while here, but more long term, this transit will take place through your 11th house of community, bringing a spotlight to your friend groups this year. How are you the Mom in your friend groups? Where are you taking care of people?

This next year is a great time to investigate those relationships and see how they’re working for you. A lot of Virgos actually really love doing these kinds of behind-the-scenes acts of service, but a lot of you also want to be thanked for it, and have a hard time asking for it.

Jupiter might give you the energy and the recognition you desire for this next year, so I hope you get out in the world and make yourself available for it.

Libra

Libra

On June 10th Jupiter makes its move into Cancer where he will spend the next year hanging out in your 10th house of career and public profile, and at some point snuggling right up to your Midheaven, the hot point for these parts of life. Career wise, this is a fantastic transit that’s about opportunity and recognition, but it can also be a time during which you struggle to take care of your own personal needs (already a hard thing for Libras).

Jupiter has a tendency to be more-more-more, and Venus-ruled Libra doesn’t always know how to say no to more-more-more. You’ll have to step back to use your discernment around which opportunities are the right ones for you. Used correctly this can be a great year for your career, and one that you can build off of for years to come: use this time to think about your goals so you can will them into the world.

Scorpio

Scorpio

Jupiter’s movement into Cancer brings the gas giant into your fellow water sign, so at some point in the next 12 months your Scorpio placement(s) will get a beautiful flowing trine from the planet, bringing with it some fortune and favour. I do so love that for you. On a more long term basis, this transit will take place in your 9th house of growth and expansion.

This is excellent astrology for anything that helps you reach outside of your own world and make it bigger: travel, spirituality, higher learning, other languages – any of these topics are likely to be themes of the next year. If you want to go back to school this is an excellent year for doing the research and writing those applications, and if any travel opportunities come up it’s likely they’ll be really enriching.

The 9th house is natural Jupiter territory and a transit like this is one best taken advantage of. Pay attention and soak it all in.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius

Your ruling planet is the big story of the year this month, as the gas giant moves into Cancer starting out a new 12-year transit through the sign. This transit is big for all Sagittarian folks, as any time your ruling planet changes signs it can draw your attention there. The planet will take this transit through your 8th house of intimacy and entanglement, moving a spotlight to this part of your chart. The 8th house is a complex part of life, as it speaks to the way that your shit is caught up in the shit of people you love.

This house is about sex, death, and taxes—it’s about the inevitable—and about both the transcendent and mundane aspects of all those areas. During transits like this I’ve seen clients get a bunch of grant or tax money, deal with inheritances, with the financial aspects of a divorce—all things where identity/relationship mesh with possessions/finances.

There can be challenges to this astrology for sure, but there are two things it’s really great for: applying for grants and seeing a therapist. Maybe you could use the grant to see the therapist? Use that luck, Sag 🍀

Capricorn

Capricorn

Jupiter’s movement this month—on the 10th, to be exact—brings the gas giant into your opposing sign. Cancer and Capricorn make up an opposition about safety, and together they’re kind of the archetypal Mom and Dad of the Zodiac. Cancer is about the home and family, about care and nurturing, and Capricorn about work, reputation, and structure (don’t worry, I’m gay and know that these problematic archetypes are only that).

In your opposing sign, Jupiter will sit in your 7th house of one-on-one partnerships, bringing a spotlight to this part of your life but also highlighting the necessary interconnection between your identity and your relationships. Under astrology like this it’s common to meet people who will become important to you, for a reason/season/lifetime.

Be careful not to put too much faith in any new connections: Jupiter transits can seem to promise the world, but once the spotlight fades there’s less substance than is ideal.

Aquarius

Aquarius

Jupiter’s movement this month into Cancer brings the gas giant into your 6th house of day to day life, labour, and health. This house is the nitty gritty of our every day: it’s our work (if not our career), it’s the daily ritual of doing the dishes, of having and fighting off a cold, of checking our calendar to make sure we’re not double booked. It’s not exciting, but in fact, these aspects of life are what we have to live in.

Under this transit you have the opportunity to really exist in that fact, and to find growth in the mundane. Appreciate your every day, Aquarius: meditate while doing the laundry and listen to audiobooks while vacuuming.

Growth doesn’t wait for the right moment, it happens all the time.

Pisces
Pisces

Jupiter’s move this month takes the gas giant into your fellow water sign of Cancer, so at some point in this next twelve month transit, you’ll get a gorgeous flowing trine to your Pisces placement(s) giving you a beautiful shot of support. More broadly throughout the year, this transit will take place through your 5th house.

This part of your chart (of your life) is all the things that make it worth living. The 5th house rules fun, creativity, expression, dancing, pets, kids. With Jupiter here you have an excellent opportunity for creative expression and growth. If there’s an artistic practice you’ve always wanted to take up, this is a wonderful time to learn it.

Overall, Pisces, give yourself a chance to focus on your fun and soak it up with the greater benefic Jupiter giving you the opportunity to do so.
